Directive Statement – is a paragraph, sentence or a phrase within a [standard] which mandates, or recommends certain rules to be applied to an object or process, and contains one or more keywords.
Example extract from a [standard]: “… component exposed to more than one fire zone shall be used in the assessment…. The component should be assigned to the next most severe fire…”
